Fraisier (my first time!!)

Personally, I am not much a dessert-person. In a restaurant, I will most likely choose a starter over a dessert most times. If I ever do choose a dessert, it will most probably be something with chocolate during « that time of the month ». When I was living in the Philippines, I had a lot of difficulty with local desserts. In fact, I can’t decide what my favorite Filipino dessert is. I usually would go with a platter of fresh fruits. Oh yeah, Philippines Mango are one of the best things ever! In France however, I do have a little weakness for the Fraisier.

La Galette des Rois

 

If you think you can go on a diet right after the Christmas / New Year break, think again. The first weekend of the year celebrates Epiphany, which marks the day the 3 Kings – Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar – came to visit Baby Jesus and in France we eat the famous Galette des Rois or the French King’s Cake. The Galette des Rois is traditionally made of flaky buttery puff pastry and filled with a Frangipane, a creamy almond mixture. Nowadays, you will notice that a lot of Boulangerie / Patisserie like to mix and match new flavors for their Galette des Rois. I like to stick strictly to tradition because I love frangipane!

Brownies (Thermomix Recipe)

 

Baby Girl is part of a 4-girl group of friends at school. Sometimes they’re friends, sometimes they’re not. It’s head-spinning, really. One advice that I’ve shared with Baby Girl is « to not share deep secrets ». Who knows what will happen in middle school? When suddenly your elementary friends aren’t your friends anymore and the whole school knows that you still peed in bed until the age of 11. Not that’s the case with Baby Girl. She hasn’t peed in her bed since she was a year old. But you get what I mean, right? I told her to have minor secrets on hands in case she absolutely has to share.

Strawberry Sorbet (Thermomix Recipe)

Hello everyone! This week has been great. I haven’t worked a lot, but I’ve spent a lot of time with the Husband which is great. So great, especially because we haven’t argued that much. Yeahhh!!! It would be a perfect week except for the fact that Baby Girl isn’t home. It’s currently Spring Break and as usual, she is in the countryside with my French family. The Husband and I went to the countryside last Sunday to celebrate my aunt’s 80th birthday. 80 years old and still super active! I absolutely admire her. After the party, Baby Girl was supposed to come home with us, but she begged to stay a little longer. She’s coming home tomorrow afternoon and I can’t wait!
