If you think you can go on a diet right after the Christmas / New Year break, think again. The first weekend of the year celebrates Epiphany, which marks the day the 3 Kings – Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar – came to visit Baby Jesus and in France we eat the famous Galette des Rois or the French King’s Cake. The Galette des Rois is traditionally made of flaky buttery puff pastry and filled with a Frangipane, a creamy almond mixture. Nowadays, you will notice that a lot of Boulangerie / Patisserie like to mix and match new flavors for their Galette des Rois. I like to stick strictly to tradition because I love frangipane!
When I first got into blogging many many many years ago, it was all about food! I was writing about recipes, products, kitchen tools, and etc … When I started this blog, I wanted to include other aspects of my life. As much as I love cooking (which is a real passion of mine), I also love travelling, fashion, books, movies and series, and arts! I thought it would be a good idea to have more of a lifestyle blog. This has been more of a diary for me and I love being able to go back and read!
Hey peeps! It’s my birthday today. Uh-uh, uh-uh!!!
My niece asked me how old I was and I answered her the age of Jesus when he died. She laughed at me and said – « Why is it that you can’t answer a simple question like everyone else? » Ha ha, maybe because I’m not like everyone else! I answered back to her.
Baby Girl is part of a 4-girl group of friends at school. Sometimes they’re friends, sometimes they’re not. It’s head-spinning, really. One advice that I’ve shared with Baby Girl is « to not share deep secrets ». Who knows what will happen in middle school? When suddenly your elementary friends aren’t your friends anymore and the whole school knows that you still peed in bed until the age of 11. Not that’s the case with Baby Girl. She hasn’t peed in her bed since she was a year old. But you get what I mean, right? I told her to have minor secrets on hands in case she absolutely has to share.
After my previous post on Picard products (click here for the post), several people asked me how I use them. As much as I love cooking, sometimes I just don’t have the time to do so (especially after a long day of work). I could order take-out but that’s not so good for my monthly budget. I could also reheat store-bought ready-to-eat dishes, but that’s not my cup of tea. Again, question of budget and well, taste too.
Hey guys! I’ve been craving so many dishes lately (no I’m not pregnant! 🤣 🤣 ). I wanted pizza, so I went to Pizza Carissimi (click here for the post). I was craving Spaghetti with Mussels and well, I went to get the ingredients. This recipe is super easy to make and ridiculously delicious!
I must be crazy to use the oven today, but I really really really love this recipe. Plus, it’s so easy to prepare! Yesterday was such a hot day so I probably wouldn’t have done it then though. Temperatures reached 36 degrees Celsius. I had to go home early from work because I felt ill. Problem was, I was sweating all morning, really sweating, and then in the afternoon it dried up. I knew I was going to be ill. By 4PM, I was sneezing, had a runny nose, and feeling chilly. Today, maximum temperature reached 26 degrees Celsius, but most importantly it was a little bit windy.
Rain or shine, if I want to eat a stew I’ll cook one. Truthfully when it comes to food I don’t really follow the seasons. Of course, I won’t eat a Tomato Salad when tomatoes are out of season and not any good. But nothing will stop me from eating a soup in the middle of the summer if I want to. Or a stew. 😋
One-Pot Pasta. Never in my dreams I thought I would cook pasta this way! I learned to cook pasta thanks to my father and he was very traditional. Pasta had to cooked in salted boiling water until al dente, drained carefully (reserving a ladle full of pasta water to add to the sauce), and served with its delicious sauce.
I take great pleasure in cooking for my family. If you take a look at my Instagram account (click here), you’ll see exactly what I mean. Since I got my Thermomix TM5, I’ve been making regularly Waffles for Baby Girl. Actually, I make them on Saturday mornings. We eat about 2 each and I freeze the rest. These are eaten during the week for breakfast or sometimes Baby Girl brings some as a school snack. This saves us so much time during the week and money too!
