The Silent Killer Cocktail

Updated: Feb 10, 2022

Hey, you!!! What’s up today? I hope you’re enjoying your weekend so far too.

I was grocery shopping in a store the other day when I accidentally heard 2 women talking. I would have just went on with my business, but when I caught a part of their conversation, I just stood there with my mouth open.

« I’d hate to be a young woman in this day and age. » « Yeah, we had it so much better during our time. » « Modern women have other priorities nowadays. » This is what I heard them say to each other.  I felt like crushing the bag of sugar I had in my hand.

What could do they possibly mean? Excuseeeee meee … What is wrong with being a young woman in 2017? Sure, it’s not easy but come on. In France, I can drive, I can vote, I can decide what I want to do with my body, I can be married and still be independent as well, I can have a bank account, and I have equal rights. If any of these were taken away from me, I would be enraged!

Of course, I didn’t hear the whole conversation, so maybe I am taking what I heard totally out of context. But thinking about it now, I don’t know if I could live like my grandmother did. My grandparents had only 1 car, which was very rare in their village, but my grandfather used it to go to work everyday. This meant that my grandmother stayed all day every day at home – cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the kids. She had to wait for my grandfather to come home to be able to go out of the house. This is clearly not a life for me and I’m happy to be a young woman in 2017.

Especially since one thing that I like to do is … enjoy a nice cocktail on Friday evening. That’s my « me » time. I shared that piece of information to the older female members of my family and I can’t help but laugh when one of their reaction was « Wait … you make the cocktail for yourself? You don’t serve it to your husband? » LOL. She would have been the perfect third person in that store conversation.

This week’s cocktail is what I call « The Silent Killer ». It’s sweet enough that you don’t notice the alcohol. So you might end up drinking 1,2, or 3 glasses and then black out! LOL.

I came up with this drink because I had extra Raspberry Coulis from my dessert last week. I didn’t know what to do with the extra, so I concocted this drink which I thought was pretty good.

The Silent Killer Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Vodka

  • 1 part Raspberry Coulis

  • Lemonade

  • A slice of Lemon

  • Raspberries

  • Ice Cubes

In a mason jar, I added the vodka and raspberry coulis. I stirred well. Then I filled the jar with lemonade (about 3/4 of the jar). I stirred well again. I, then, added some ice cubes. Finally, I garnished with lemon and some raspberry. 😊😊
