Happy 35th Birthday to Me!

Updated: Jan 9, 2021

Last Tuesday, I celebrated my 35th birthday. To some this might not mean much, but for me it's very very important. Since I turned 32 years old, each birthdays have felt like a winning step.

There are no words to describe how spoiled I was this year.

My day began with a warm hug in the arms of my husband and a beautiful bouquet of roses and eucalyptus. I'm going to turn those flowers into potpourri and I also heard this thing about fresh eucalyptus in the shower / bath. Apparently the hot water steam activates the oil of the fresh eucalyptus and is released. I'm gonna try and I'll let you know all about it.

I had to work at the office in the morning and I was welcomed with arms full of gifts. A winter cocooning package full of goodies and a nice flower. I brought a tray of homemade Slutty Brownies which everyone loved. I can't wait to post the recipe here soon! I've made it twice now and both times were a hit.

I was excited to go home midday so I could start cooking for our dinner. I had big plans of eating Filipino Kare-Kare, Bam-I, and Baked Mussels for my birthday dinner. I finally got home at about 3pm and had to head straight to the kitchen. Kare-Kare takes so long to cook, but it's so delicious! And I used tripes for the first time which was so good!

When it was time to eat and we were dressed in red, we called my sisters-in-law abroad. Not only did I marry a wonderful husband, but I was gifted with 3 amazing sisters-in-law. Sometimes I feel like they aren't just my in-laws, but friends as well. 😊

Speaking of friends - I have a particularly crazy one. Not only did she participate in the gift pool, she also sent me a care package of all of my favourite junk food, but she also dropped more birthday gifts yesterday! Crazy I tell ya, but boy do I love her and our friendship!

I don't want to come off as bragging because that's not the point I want to make. I'm writing this post because I don't ever want to forget about this. More and more, I find myself forgetting things and I don't want that. Not when my loving husband started a money pool to buy me a super nice gift. Timid as he is, I never ever imagined that he would do this. And when I mentioned the Dyson Airwrap, I never ever imagined that I would get it for my 35th birthday.

The Dyson Airwrap is a dream tool for women who love styling their hair. There's a pre-styling dryer, a round brush, 2 flat brushes, and 2 pairs of curling barrels. It's a very expensive tool, that's for sure, but it replaces several styling tools. It takes practice to get the hand of it, but once you get passed that, it's magic. I love the fact that I can dry my hair while brushing it at the same time - what a time saver. Really!!!

I went to bed at midnight with stars in my eyes and warmth in my heart. That's the best gift I could ever get. Both of my parents have sadly passed away already so there's always this hole in me. But the people in my life make sure to fill that hole with their words of love and care.

Life is too short to be lived counting the years. My birthday wish this year is for all the people in my life. May you be showered with good health, love, and more blessings! ❤️❤️

xoxo Elodie
